How to distinguish CDI box with AC fired or CDI box with DC fired?
If headlights turn on without the engine running(with just the key on), it is a DC system. In the AC system, turning headlights on require the engine to be running. Another indication is, if the engine will only runs with a battery it is DC. If it will runs without a battery, it is a AC system.

What does the voltage regulator do?
This regulator has the task of converting the alternating voltage (AC) generated by the alternator into the direct voltage (DC) 12V used in the vehicle electrical system and keeping the voltage within a certain range.
The voltage regulator is also responsible for ensuring that the battery is charged and that the light bulbs do not burn out.

How do I know if the charge regulator can be defective?
- Incandescent lamps burn out all the time.
- Headlights get brighter and darker.
- The battery is constantly empty.

Vf750 regulator/ rectifier

Not exactly the same no black wire, so hopefully it's ok, won't be able to test until the engine is back in the frame, otherwise looks identical.

Wlres are the correct colour code but different orientation on the plug to mate up with my 1973 Honda CB125S.
I removed the pins and put them in the correct position. According to the info when I bought the rectifier, it should work
